Hello, fellow GTA player, I was always a little sick of the generic chinese and 'Families' tattoos R* decided to give Franklin. I decided to give him a unique style - mainly because Franklin mentions his disaproval of 'gangbanging' in one of his early missions as well as in 'Franklin and Lamar'. So, instead of that generic stuff, I decided to give him a modern geometric tattoo style - which, I admit, is a bit hipster.

Geometric art is also quite prominent in Islamic art, so I thought of giving Franklin more character by giving his tattoos a more religious meaning - as many tattoos are at least somewhat tied to religion in general. It's a bit of a break from all the Marias and crosses, isn't it? I chose shiite symbolism - notably the 'double tipped sword' (zulfiqar/dhulfiqar), a well known symbol for 'Ali, the first Imam of Shi'a Islam. There are some less abstract images that break up the geometric patterns, which would be less orthodox in Sunni interpretations on the rulings regarding religious imagery - or imagery of living things in general.

There is no offense (or controversy) intended in these designs, and I do not wish to present these designs as a statement on religion, it is simply a sense of appreciation of these patterns.
