This mod adds the level Summer Forest from the legendary PlayStation 1 game, Spyro 2, to Grand Theft Auto 5.
Why?
I was experimenting with creating maps for GTA 5 and rather than jumping in with a massive map mod, I decided to use a low end, single model.
Which happened to be a model from a PS1 game.
I am happy enough with the results (so far) so here's a release.
Features:
* Low PC friendly! (Remember: 1999 PlayStation 1 model. Even you on Intel HD 3000 should be able to run this w/out FPS drop)
* Genunine model
* Embedded texture
* Near perfect collision
* Appropriate water levels, close to that of the actual Spyro 2 game. * Works with Map Editor or Menyoo (personally I recommend Map Editor)
Due to map placement, the place where you would "glide" is full of water, so jump down and swim across!
Drag and drop the update folder into your GTA 5 folder.
Then, using OpenIV go to:
update\update.rpf\common\data
Extract dlclist.xml
Open DLClist.xml and underneath "dlcpacks:\patchday13ng\" (as of me publishing this)
you need to add
dlcpacks:\spyro2\
then save and re-import your dlclist.xml back into your update.rpf.
Then, ingame, activate Map Editor, (I use a controller, so for me this is R3 + LB, if you use a keyboard/mouse, press F7.
Then go down to "Load Map" and type "summerforest" and it'll load.
Head down to Vespucci Beach, you should see an awful model (PLEASE READ BUGS BELOW FOR AN EXPLANATION FOR THIS) and then you should fly there in a helicopter and the rest is idiot-proof.
3.) BUGS
Bug #1: Water
In some scenarios, the water will go onto the floor near the main lake area.
This is a bug, because of the map placement, I had to put the map a bit close to the sea, because otherwise you can't jump out of the castle tunnel.
Should not occur if you're playing in sunny weather. From my experiences, rainy/thunder causes this the worst.
Bug #2: "Missing" map parts
From above (and the side) you can see directly into the map and it looks like there is no model.
There is a model, but it's just the way the model was made. From the top/side's it's see through. Remember, this was ported from a 1999 PlayStation 1 game. Not my fault and I don't think it's fixable.
Bug #3: Size is 300mb when extracted.
IDK what caused this.
Download itself is about 7mb, but when extracted, the archive is about 300mb.
4.) Credits
Ported from Spyro 2 by TheNathanNS
Feel free to use this mod in your mod, but please give credit!
5.) OTHER NOTES
If you wish to add this to a custom map, or something, add spyro2summer to your objects.ini so it'll spawn in the Map Editor list.
